Welcome to my online portfolio and this ‘About Me’ overview. I created this site, especially for editors who have not worked with me and want to see examples of my published work.
I’ve been working in some writing or storytelling jobs all my adult life. During college, I worked in commercial radio as a DJ, and then, post-graduation, I worked in the public relations/communications field in director positions for wonderful nonprofit organizations. As a writer, those years in the traditional work world taught me the value of being accurate, descriptive, and delivering copy on time.
After my sons left home, I said goodbye to my 15-year career path in nonprofit public relations to attend university in Paris. As an expatriate long before today’s social media, I was famous among friends and family for my postcards. I soaked up local customs, greetings, food, bargains, and must-see sights. Passionate about sharing my discoveries, I’d write home or show my many guests what to enjoy beyond the usual tourist destinations.
Returning to the US, I used my discovery skills to freelance as the executive producer for an award-winning national commercial travel radio show.
Since 2016, I’ve lived and written from a 4-acre Arabian horse breeding farm I share with my husband, Ian, in Arizona’s most southeastern county, Cochise. When not on the road, I delight in our high desert weather, the mix of cultures, the variety of cuisines, and the quiet.
I am a proud and active American Horse Publications organization member, a must-join for any equestrian writer. You can read more about me here from a 2019 AHP interview.
I know how busy you can be, so thank you for visiting my site. Please reach out with questions or if you need your article writing.
Cheers,
Janet
