Welcome to my online portfolio. I created this site especially for editors that have not worked with me and who want to see examples of my published work.
I’ve been in some type of writing or ‘storytelling’ job all my adult life. During college, I worked in commercial radio as a DJ, and then post-graduation worked in the public relations/communications field in director positions for wonderful nonprofit organizations. As a writer, those years in the traditional work world taught me the value of being accurate, descriptive and delivering copy on time.
After my sons left home, I said good-bye to my 15-year career path in nonprofit public relations to attend university in Paris. As an expatriate and long before today’s social media, I was famous among friends and family for my postcards. I soaked up the local customs, greetings, food, bargains, must-see sights, and more. Passionate about sharing my discoveries, I’d write home or show my many guests what to enjoy beyond the usual tourist destinations.
Returning to the US, I was able to use my discover skills to freelance as the executive producer for an award-winning, national commercial travel radio show.
Since 2016, I’ve been living and writing from a 4-acre Arabian horse breeding farm I share with my husband, Ian, in Arizona’s most southeastern county, Cochise. When I’m not on the road, I delight in our high desert weather, the mix of cultures, the variety of cuisine, and the quiet.
I am a proud and active member of the American Horse Publications organization, a must-join for any equestrian writer. You can read a bit more about me here from a recent AHP interview.
I know how busy you can be, so thank you for taking the time to visit my site. Please reach out with questions or your article-writing needs.
Cheers,
Janet
