Founded in 1991, the Bisbee 1000 – The Great Stair Climb is a charitable fundraiser promoting healthy living in Cochise County, Arizona, where Bisbee is the county seat. The Bisbee1000 is touted as the country’s most unique physical fitness challenge — or friendly fitness walk –. Runners and walkers -1300 this year – take in some of the most scenic parts of Old Bisbee as they ascend staircases, traverse winding roads, and stroll atop some of the city’s oldest granite-stacked retaining walls.
