In May 2019, Arabian Horse Life editor Stephanie Ruff, knowing I would be attending the Arabian Horse Association’s Sport Horse National Arabian & Half Arabian Championship Horse Show to compete, asked me to write a 500-700 word vignette highlighting show competitors for AHL’s issue six.
Sport Horse Nationals is the only Sport Horse show offered by a breed association. Its class offerings range from Dressage to Hunter/Jumper to Pleasure Carriage Driving and much more. The 2019 show was held in Crete, Illinois, at the Balmoral Hunter/Jumper Equestrian Center.
I delivered the fact-checked copy on three amateur competitors and their horses, along with several hi-res images that were taken by me or a professional equine photographer. Each image was accompanied by the needed release forms, and photo credit text. One photograph I took during the show was published as part of the article in Arabian Horse Life issue 6.
